D.A.R.E. PROGRAM

The Jasper County Sheriff's Police, D.A.R.E. Program, has been in operation since 1991. The first five years of the program; were staffed by Sgt. Dave Schaetzel, and the next 8 years were staffed by Sergeant Tim Bruce. The 2003-2004, school season, saw Officer Jason Wallace take over in the classrooms. "Officer" Wallace conducts 19 classes a week between our four school systems, during the school year. When not in your respective school systems, you will find the D.A.R.E. officer out on the road responding to patrol calls.

Our D.A.R.E. program; is overseen by Sheriff Orville Perry.

Over the past years we have instructed over (7000) 5th grade school students from the Rensselaer, Tri-County, West Central, and Kankakee Valley School systems. Our hope is that we have provided your children with some degree of life skills that will aid them when confronted by life's problems. We don't expect that all children with go without problems in their life, but rather some will come away from the program, better for having participated. If one person out of 7000 gains the ability to stay away from a harmful drug dependent life, then our work has achieved something great. We feel strongly that more will be effected; positively.

Parents need to continue the work and reinforce good principles in their children's lives, and provide good role models for your children to follow.

Help us save one of our greatest natural resources… OUR CHILDREN!
