Gun Permits:
Gun permits are issued in four categories. The following fees are required by the State of
Indiana
Hunting
and/or Target Practice --Fee $5.00

Personal Protection --Fee $15.00

Firearm Dealer --Fee Exempt

Retired Police Officer --Fee Exempt


All applications for gun permits must be filled out in person at; the Jasper County Jail, at 202 S. Cullen St, Rensselaer, Indiana, or at the Sheriff' Annex East of DeMotte. Applications may only be made Monday thru Friday
8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. except Holidays. A $10.00 application fee is due at the time the application is made. We accept cash only, and you must have the correct amount, as we can not make change. This application fee is paid to the Sheriff for processing your application. You will be fingerprinted and a criminal history will be run through the FBI computer.

Accident Reports:
Copies of accident reports are available to individuals involved in the accident or insurers of individuals involved in accidents. Generally, accident reports are available 24 hours after the accident occurred unless the accident occurred on a weekend or holiday and then it will be available the next working day. Cost for an accident report is $5.00. Requests can be mailed or in person. They are only available between
8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday except Holidays. Accident reports are also available at the North Annex, under the same guidelines.

Vendor/Purchasing Requirements:
To become a vendor for the Sheriff's department you must first check with the Auditors Office to see if your products must be bid. If not simply contact the appropriate staff officer in the department and schedule an appointment to make a presentation. Final purchase is at the approval of the Sheriff.

Obtaining Official Records:
All requests, for release of official records, will be approved by the Sheriff.
